French Language Vitality
Throughout most of Aroostook county, the vast majority of those of French, French Canadian or Acadian ancestry are able to speak the language of their ancestors. The exceptions are in the far south at Houlton and to a lesser degree in and around Caribou and Presque Isle, including Fort Fairfield and Limestone.
